Thank you, Lord, for the upcoming New Year. I pray that this is the year that good things happen in our home. Please bless this home. I pray that I will remember that You are who You say You are and that I am who You say I am. Help me to remember that I am exactly where You want me. I pray that you gather all the prayers said for T and raise them as a banner above her. Bring her friends and healing to her marrow, merciful God! I pray "Increase in Jesus' name" to her marrow. Sickness, be gone and replaced with devine healing!
Yes, 2009 will be a year of new beginnings and new healings. Help me to have faith, Dear Lord! Help me to be a Prisoner of Hope!

Sad.
It is so hard to see your children suffer. T is having a hard time. Being 15 is a big deal. Lots of stuff going on to share. She feels like she doesn't have friends. Oh, sure, she is well liked at school, but a girl needs a best friend, you know? She is such a sweetie. She would be a great friend. She has so much to share and she needs someone to talk to. Please, LORD! Bring a friend. I put my trust in you.

Thank Goodness!
Thank you, LORD that this quarter is over! Just in time. I feel so stressed out!
You know what is in my heart and head. I pray that your will be done in my life and that you don't forget that I am but dust and clay. I am weak and afraid sometimes. Be my strength. Help me to lean on you and please let me feel Your presence in my life, Oh LORD! I can't do this without you. My prayer is that you continue your mighty healing in Taylor's life. I speak life into her bone marrow LORD. Please, Father, protect her from the evil one. I pray Your will be done in her life. Sing over her, LORD. Sing life over her. In Jesus' name. Help me to continue to be a prisoner of hope....

GENTLE STILL
Let me do my work each day;
and if the darkened hours of despair overcome me,
may I not forget the strength that comforted me
in the desolation of other times.
May I still remember the bright hours that found me
walking over the silent hills of my childhood,
or dreaming on the margin of a quiet river
when a light glowed within me, and I promised my early God
to have courage amid the tempests of the changing years.
Spare me from bitterness and
from the sharp passions of unguarded moments.
May I not forget that poverty and riches are of the spirit.
Though the world knows me not, may my thoughts and actions be
such as shall keep me friendly with myself.
Lift up my eyes from the earth
and let me not forget the uses of the stars.
Forbid that I should judge others lest I condemn myself.
Let me not follow the clamor of the world,
but walk calmly in my path.
Give me a few friends who will love me for what I am;
and keep ever burning before my vagrant steps
the kindly light of hope.
And though age and infirmity overtake me,
and I come not within sight of the castle of my dreams,
teach me still to be thankful for life,
and for time's olden memories that are good and sweet;
and may the evening's twilight find me gentle still.

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be
greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements
as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career,
however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life
keep peace with your soul.
With all its
sham,
drudgery,
and
broken dreams...
it is still a
beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

Beta Blocker Blues
BETA-BLOCKER BLUES
Since I started Nursing School my blood pressure’s been real high.
I went to the doctor, so I could ask him, “Why?”
“Stress Hypertension”, is what he said I had
But he didn’t tell me the Atenolol he gave me would make me feel this bad.
Now I’ve got the blues. I’ve got the Beta-Blocker blues.
Now, I’m always anxious, yea, I’m a nervous wreck.
I can’t fall asleep at night, so I’m tired as heck.
I try so bad to study hard for all these darn tests
But my mind is really foggy, and I am just a mess!
Yes, I’ve got the blues. I’ve got the Beta-blocker blues.
Oh! And I try to exercise, but I can’t catch my breath
But I keep on telling myself, “Well, you know, I guess it IS better than death”.
And I would tell you about my sex life, but my libido has said, “See Ya!”
Not to mention that I suffer from occasional bouts of irritability and diarrhea!
Wow! I’ve got the blues. I’ve got the Beta-adrenergic-blocker blues!

What the H*LL am I doing?????
Get off the stupid computer and start doing something! Why do I do this to myself? I have so many assignments to do and I feel paralized. I do this every time! I feel so overwhelmed about everything that I have to do. I just try to get my mind off of it by wasting time on this stupid computer (the biggest time-suck EVER!!)
Ok. Deep breath. I'm going to do it. (in just 15 more minutes...)

I said WHAT?
Nursing school is interesting, to say the least. I'm tired. Real tired. I recently cut my hair very short and mom said that it made me look tired. No, mom. I AM tired. I am reading every waking minute. I go to bed exhausted. I dream about stuff from nursing school that is stressing me out. I wake up exhausted. It is a vicious cycle. I gave myself yesterday off and now I'm kicking myself.
I've had some funny things happen at clinicals, though. I had a prisoner for a couple of days. I was pretty intimidated with the two constant guards, the chains, the handcuffs, the big guy, the long beard and long hair, the tattoo's, etc.
I had been in his room charting for a while and then I left. I visited a couple of other patients. After about 10 minutes, I noticed that I did not have my pen! I looked in ALL of my pockets. (Do you know how many pocket the average scrub has?????) I was getting frantic. I keep losing my stupid pen! I started back-tracking into all the rooms I had visited. I peeked into the prisoner's room and lo-and-behold, my pen was on his bedside table. I walked up to the table and absent-mindedly spouted, "Did you steal my pen?" He looked at the guards and dead-panned, "Did you hear that? I'm a prisoner, so she assumes I stole her pen". That cracked the guards up. He then looked at me and said, "Lady, I'm a murderer, not a THIEF!" I said under my breath, "That's reassuring". (I think he was kidding me?????????) Anyway, it got a lot of laughs.
I'm off to one of my nursing school friend's house to quickly get a PowerPoint presentation together for tomorrow because we found out on FRIDAY that we were TEACHING ON MONDAY!!!!!!! This is so frustrating, but typical. (I'm sorry? I though I was paying YOU to teach ME????????)

Sucks...
I found out that one of my best friends in the nursing program has chosen to step out for the year. There are some family health issues going on that she feels she needs to attend to. She has such a quiet, gentle spirit about her. She is a very calming person to be around. She rarely freaks out, which I admire so much. What will I do without her? Our class is so absolutely loud and I so appreciated her quiet, calm attitude. I am really bummed out right now. I am feeling selfish and depressed. I will truly miss her this year.
I am trying to get ready for the term to begin. I put all the important dates into my little "Nursing Student" Planner. All the tests. All the lectures. All the clinicals. Did I mention all the tests? I really need to start studying...
Tomorrow night is my final Beth Moore Bible study at our church. I had organized it as a thank offering for completing my LPN year. I love Beth Moore. She has gotten me through some pretty tough times in my life. This study is from a conference I went to in Salt Lake City in 2006 called "Measureless Love". LORD please help me as I prepare for this upcoming year!
Help me to cling to Your Hope.

Here we go...
Well. I'm new to the whole blogging thing. I've been curious, and I have a lot on my mind most of the time, but who has the time to jot it all down? LORD, help me. You know my mind and thoughts and prayers. Please make sense of it all.
Nursing school starts in a few days and I am already feeling unprepared. This is supposed to be a harsh year. I pray I can succeed. I am feeling overwhelmed right about now. DT is feeling tired and that concerns me. Is it normal teenage-girl fatigue? Is it something else? Her labs have been good for her lately, so I really am thinking it's normal. She works so hard during the day. I lift her up, LORD. SC is trying to grow up. I pray he doesn't forget about us in his quest for freedom. Give me strength, loving Father.
